Learning never stops at Hominy Valley Elementary School. This summer over 100 students from Candler Elementary, Pisgah Elementary, Sand Hill-Venable and Hominy Valley are attending the Summer Academy. It’s a great time for exploring, learning, and forging new friendships.

“Our teachers and students are coming from all over the Enka District,” said Elementary Math Instructional Coach Kristine Schmitt. “Students are meeting up with former friends and making new friends.”

Mrs. Schmitt says that Summer Academy is a special time for everyone and an excellent way to support a child’s educational journey.

“Students are receiving extra instruction in phonics and fluency that helps strengthen those skills before starting the new school year,” she said. “Our staff are able to work with students in smaller groups which helps each child thrive in this setting. In a short amount of time, the students and staff have joined together into one happy JET community!”
