Woodfin 1st grade students got to check out the BCS Bookmobile as part of their Wit and Wisdom ELA curriculum. Mrs. McDaris shares, " We have been learning how children get books in different countries like Azerbaijan, Canada, England, Taiwan and many more. Also that books can help people become storytellers, authors, and many more things!"

Mrs. Luther’s 1/2 combo class had fun learning about pumpkins. They measured using cubes and rulers. Students learned about the life cycle and that pumpkins float not sink 😮 The one fact that amazed us the most is that the US produces 1.5 BILLION pounds of pumpkins a year.

Who knew math could be fun? Mrs. Luther’s 1st/2nd class learned math is so much more than numbers. First grade worked with patterns with cubes and Second grade is working with Geoblocks to create pictures.

As a reminder, here are our guidelines when multiple people are arriving at the same time. If you have buzzed in and are being screened and you notice another visitor is arriving, please don’t hold the door and allow anyone in without being screened first. If the other visitor is 15 feet or less from the door, please buzz in and be screened together. If the visitor is more than 15 feet from the door, please buzz in and ensure the door is closed completely after you enter. We certainly want to encourage politeness and our visitors understand that it is unsafe to hold doors and allow visitors in without being verified by front office staff first. Free/Reduced Meal Applications for the new school year are available now! This program is confidential and registration is easy! This year, children who qualify for this program will not be responsible for any of the cost of the lunch. Now is the time to get back on track with routine care which includes being up-to-date on the vaccines. North Carolina's student immunization schedule includes vaccines such as polio and measles, mumps, rubella (MMR).
