Thanks to the generosity of Champions for Wildlife, every student at Johnston Elementary is soaring into summer with a special art and science kit designed to spark creativity and curiosity.
The kits, which include bird identification materials, coloring books, and observational tools, are part of a unique partnership that encourages students to explore the world of birds right in their own backyards.
With magnifying glass in hand and crayons at the ready, students can spot local birds, record what they see, and bring those sightings to life in their bird coloring books. The kits blend scientific learning with artistic expression - giving children the opportunity to be both naturalists and illustrators during their summer break.
“Champions for Wildlife made it possible for our students to stay connected to learning in a meaningful and fun way,” said Principal Angie Trantham. “This project combines science, art, and the great outdoors - all things we know are powerful for growing young minds.”
With birds as their inspiration, Johnston Elementary students are sure to have a summer full of wonder, discovery, and colorful creations.
