Last week the graduating TC Roberson class of 2023 paraded through the hallways of Avery's Creek Elementary School. Many of the TC students were ACES graduates! It was so great to see students reconnecting with their elementary school teachers and to see the current ACES students looking up to the graduating seniors. Best of luck to the class of 2023 and CONGRATULATIONS!

This week third grade ACES students created 3D printed designs of their cursive initials. Students first practiced writing their initials on Fundations paper, they then went into Tinkercad and traced their initials. These designs were sent to the 3D printer and students were able to take home their 3D designs! 21st century skills in action!

ACES transition night was a great success! Families came to learn about their students' rising grade levels. Teachers talked with families about how to prepare for the upcoming grades and families had the opportunity to ask questions and meet the teachers. Our amazing guidance counselors shared breathing techniques and gave out stress balloons and our book fair was bustling! The book fair will be open for its final day on Monday. Hope to see everyone at the Spring Fling tonight!

Students in second grade have recently completed their Wit and Wisdom unit on Civil Rights. Throughout this unit, students looked at various people from history and how they responded to adversity. Among these people were Sylvia Mendez and Ruby Bridges. To finish up the unit, students wrote papers through the eyes of these important historical figures and took pictures of themselves in "their shoes."

Second grade celebrated the end of their Wit and Wisdom module with a peaceful protest today. The module focused on civil rights and how people can stand up for their rights in a peaceful way. Some of the leaders second graders studied in this module were Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Ruby Bridges. In this protest they marched for the pollinators that have been in decline recently due to habitat destruction.
