Enka Performing Arts students proudly presents Alice By Heart with performances on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, May 2, 3 and 4, at 7 pm. The show, including a short intermission, runs approximately 2 hours and is recommended for middle school age and up.
This new, limited available Indie-rock musical, Alice By Heart, is set in 1941 during the London Blitz and Alice Spencer is living with other teens in an Underground Train Station. As her best friend Alfred is quarantined, she encourages him to escape with her into their cherished childhood book, Alice in Wonderland. As they journey "down the rabbit hole" with fellow tunnel dwellers becoming the crazy characters from the novel...are they dreaming? hallucinating? or is this simply their way of making sense of all the pain? The musical explores the poignancy of first love, coming to terms with loss and finding the courage and hope to move forward.
