Discipline Plan

Dear Parents,

It is vital to the well-being and successful development of young children that they have clear, consistent, and appropriate limits on behavior. Rules in the classroom are there to promote safety and to encourage a learning environment which optimizes student achievement. In order to guarantee your child and the other students in my classroom the excellent learning climate they deserve, I have developed this discipline plan.

My Discipline Philosophy:

I believe all of my students can behave appropriately in my classroom. Activities are planned to allow active participation. Students are expected to behave in a manner that is age appropriate. I will not tolerate a student stopping me from teaching or stopping any student from learning.

My Class Rules:
1. Listen carefully and follow directions.
2. Speak and work in a way that does not disturb others.
3. Respect personal property, other people, and your school.
4. Be kind with your words and actions.

If a Student Chooses to Break a Rule

All students will start each day on GREEN on the Traffic Light,
1st consequence: Verbal warning.
2nd consequence: Move clip to YELLOW on Traffic Light and take a privilege way. (loss of daily sticker)
3rd consequence: Move clip to RED and receive a note or phone call home.

Red= “I need to make better choices."
Yellow= “Tomorrow will be better!”
Green= “I had a GOOD day!”

Severe Disruption : The child is removed from the room or sent home for the remainder of the day. A parental conference with the principal and teacher will follow. Severe disruption includes behaviors such as fighting, uncontrollable temper tantrums, willful destruction of school property and sustained defiant behavior.

Students Who Choose to Behave Will Earn: Praise, notes home to the parents, stickers, special treats, special visit to the principal, special tasks to help the teacher.

It is in your child’s best interest that we work together to support his/her schooling. Therefore, I will be in close contact with you regarding your child’s progress. Please sign the tear-off and have your child bring it back to school tomorrow. If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to call me or write them on the tear-off.

Sincerely,
Traci Morgain
