Classroom Behavior Plan

Classroom Behavior Plan

This year at HVE we will continue implementing our PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions & Support) program to increase positive behavior throughout our school.  Our classroom behavior plan will follow the PBIS matrix.  Students remember the expectations for their behavior with the acronym SPORT.  We try to be Safe, Positive, On Task, Respectful, Team Players at all times.  Posters and banners around the school remind students of what it looks like to follow the SPORT expectations in that setting.

When students are noticed meeting these behavioral expectations will reinforce those behaviors by paying students compliments in front of the class.  Students who are meeting behavioral expectations will earn SPORT tickets.  As students accumulate SPORT tickets, they can earn rewards.  Students who have been especially successful in modeling our SPORT expectations throughout the building will also be recognized in front of students and parents at our 9-week celebrations.

Rewards
Students who make positive choices, will receive positive reinforcement.  This is given through the handing out of SPORT tickets and verbal/written compliments.  These tickets can be traded for rewards.

We will also have a class Compliment Chart. When that chart is full, class rewards will be given. Those could be extra recess, lunch in the classroom with a movie, no homework for the week, popsicles, etc.  These rewards will be voted on by the students.

Consequences
Students who choose to make choices that are not ideal for the classroom will be given consequences in the following order.
1. Students will be given a verbal/nonverbal warning.
2. If the behavior continues, the student will be removed from the group to reflect on why they are making the choices that they are by completing a reflection sheet.
3. If the behavior continues without any progress to ideal behavior, the student will be sent to the office.
*At this point, the behavior will be entered into Educators Handbook- a behavior tracking system for the district, that will alert the office of the offense.  If an incident is entered into Educators Handbook, a printout will be sent home for parents/guardians to sign and return.  Additionally, the reflection sheet will be sent home to be signed as well.

**There are certain instances where all warnings will be bypassed.  Students who are physically harming other students, teachers and staff in the building will be sent directly to the office.
