Title 1 is the largest federally funded educational program. The basic principle of Title 1 is that schools with large concentrations of low-income students will receive supplemental funds to assist in meeting student’s educational goals. The number of low-income students is determined by the number of students enrolled in the free and reduced lunch program. Title 1 funds can be used to improve curriculum, instructional activities, counseling, parental involvement, and increase staff and program improvement.

All
students benefit from Title 1 funding!

We are all so excited to have the opportunity to work with your child during JET Time. Please do not hesitate to send me an email if you have any questions or concerns about your child's reading.

Greetings Parents!
As we continue with this unique year, we wanted to provide some insight as to what Title 1 does for your children who attend Hominy Valley. Please watch this 7 minute video (Annual Title I Meeting) about what Title 1 is and how it supports your child and then fill out this brief form (2020-2021 Compact Acknowledgement) so that we know you have received the information.
Attached, you will find copies of the video as well along with compact samples in English, Russian, and Spanish. We are honored you have entrusted Hominy Valley to educate your child. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to ask. We are always here to support.
If you haven't filled out the BCS Free/Reduced Lunch form, here is the link: https://www.buncombeschools.org/cms/One.aspx?portalId=92531&pageId=253029 You can also request a copy from your child's teacher if you would rather have a paper copy.
